Pick of the Day - Black Jeggings

Some may tease, but my favorite fashion trend of 2010 is the jegging.  Black, jean, grey, fleece - I love every type and color.  They fit well, are comfortable, and work with shoes of any kind - boots, flats, uggs.  My pet peeve is dealing with slouchy jeans that bunch up under cute winter boots.  With the jegging, bunching is non-existent.

Now the first snow has fallen, finding warm jeggings is essential.  Adriano Goldschmied (AG) has recently come out with a pair of black sateen jeggings that are not as constricting as leggings, more comfortable than jeans, and warmer than your typical pair of leggings.  American Apparel carries a basic pair of black winter leggings that are fleece-lined and cozy.

Am I missing any?

Target - another guest designer flop?

I am always stoked when I hear about a reputable designer gracing Target with a guest fashion line.  And every time that line hits stores, I find myself disappointed.  Most recently, when Mulberry started selling handbags for Target, I practically knocked down the doors at their launch, only to leave empty-handed.  Not only was the faux leather obviously cheap (honestly, what did I expect), but the word TARGET was emblazoned on the gold clasp, clear as day.

So next up - William Rast, a collaboration with cutie Justin Timberlake and designer Trace Ayala.  The theme is self-described as "biker bohemia", which has potential.  Usually, I think that anything JT touches turns to gold, but this line is quite the exception.  Flannel buttondowns, denim shirts, skinny jeans - all items that can be found at your local Gap, leather jackets that aren't quite leather, basic silk-screened tees.

Or maybe I am just too hard on Target?  Check out the link to shop styles: http://bit.ly/eIAjL5

Pick of the Day - Anthropologie

Along with many wonderful Christmas gifts, I received two gift cards for Anthropologie, a store I cannot afford, but visit consistently.  I love their classic, feminine looks and visited the online store already to start planning my purchases.

What do you think?

For the man in your life

The other day, Husband and I were watching that awful show on ESPN where two men scream about current events in the sports world.  One of the men wore a Mr. Rogers-type cable-knit cardigan sweater, which, actually, did not look awful on him.  I persuaded Husband to try one on during the holiday Banana Republic sale.  It looks adorable on him.

Note, not for the faint of heart.  Mr. Rogers sweaters can be kind of dorky.  But I love my dork.

First outfit of the year

Come December, there is a lot to think about.  What to give to your Secret Santa at the office holiday party, how to get through another season of snow, and where your next beach vacation will be.  It's also time to think about possibly the most important question - what to wear on New Years Eve.

This season is all about sequins, sparkles, and glamour.  Sequins haven't been in style since virtually the 80s, so work it while you can!

Pair a simple long-sleeve black tee with a short gold sequined skirt, black textured tights, and black platform heels.  Match the outfit with a black or gold glittery clutch, which these days can be found at any accessory store.  Accessorize the simplicity by adding a gold glittery manicure and smoky eyes with a touch of gold eyeliner.

New Year, New Resolution

I have been talking about starting a blog for what seems like an eternity.  Friends nod and smile, Husband says just do it.  I am nervous about my lack of technical knowledge, lack of time, excuses excuses.  But 2011 seems like a great year to let go of the reasons why NOT and invent reasons why TO.  So here goes nothing.

Happy New Year - here's looking at a great season to come!
